Dreyfus’s Business Excellence initiative was designed to implement excellent financial and sustainable growth initiatives across their project management and commercial services business. This initiative was critical to Dreyfus’s ultimate survival and growth – particularly as a start-up and new player entering the advisory market. Detailed market research was also conducted about the target market, and gap analyses were performed on Dreyfus’s internal capability to highlight strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. A recruitment strategy was also put in place involving LinkedIn, SEEK and partnering with the University of New South Wales Career Exhibition Events was developed to target future Seniors and Associates. Lastly, they revisited the business’s cost model to ensure sufficient profitability and coverage of business development costs.
A business planning workshop was held at each end of the financial year with the Dreyfus team to align, discuss and gain feedback on growth strategy, organisational structure, and business direction. Additionally, bi-weekly meetings with the team help ensure that progress, actions, opportunities, and utilisation align with the business plan objectives. Due to their continual efforts, Dreyfus has achieved over two years of continuous growth, with a net operating margin of more than 10% and an average of $2M in opportunities at any given time. Positive client testimonials assured Dreyfus was providing the right quality of service whilst being profitable as a start-up business.
