Western Work Force

The Australian Business Award for Business Excellence recognises organisations that have successfully implemented initiatives that demonstrate excellence in business management.

“We would like to thank our many hundreds of employees and dedicated staff who work together across the business to promote our vision, strengthen our brand and continually help us expand and become a trusted labour hire partner to Australia’s largest mining and construction companies.”

Craig Loftus, CEO, Western Work Force

Established in 2014, Western Work Force (WWF) is a specialist recruitment agency partnering with mining contractors and mine owners to supply both trade and technical based personnel on casual and permanent labour hire terms.

Having begun operations just over two years ago, Western Work Force managed to secure several significant contracts within their first year of operation by utilising an emphasis on quality, ‘site-ready’ personnel and effective payroll management. Specifically, WWF focused on assisting clients in providing key market information relating to employee wages and entitlements, training, protection equipment and medical providers as well as costings information. This attempt to establish a ‘turnkey’ approach aimed to demonstrate a substantial cost saving for clients of 15-20% compared to their competitors.

In one instance, WWF was asked to supply 90% of the workforce for a mine maintenance project, providing recruitment, training, medicals, protection equipment and transport to more than 60 personnel. Two months into the project circumstances dictated a change in workload for employees from 2 weeks-on, 2 weeks-off (2/2) to 2 weeks-on, 1 week-off (2/1). In response WWF worked closely with the client to directly address each employee, re-assuring them with future employment opportunities and by covering the cost of their training and medical exams.

This emphasis on problem solving and their ‘turnkey’ approach to personnel supply resulted in WWF’s client making significant savings in terms of bottom line and risk mitigation, further contributing to WWF’s $11.5-million-dollar turnover after just 12 months in business. As a result, Western Work Force have been recognised with a Business Excellence Award in the Australian Business Awards 2016.
